Ajam, Couchsurfs Volunteer International Dj After losing both my parents over the last 6 years, I realized how precious life is and decided to make the most of it whilst I can. Selling everything I owned including the family house I embarked on a quest, to follow my dream, escape from a world that no longer felt natural, seek to conquer my fears, finally step up to the challenge of discovering oneself, be free and change the world in my own small way.
A friend of mine recently travelled the world and upon returning told me of a website I'd never heard about. Couchsurfing is a network of people offering to host travellers in there home, hosting a more personal and cheaper holiday experience than staying in hotels and hostels. I decided to join offering my spare room to whatever stranger needed a place in my home town of Bolton. After a year I hosted over 15 people from all around the world making some lifelong friends and changing my life forever.

Already having a dream of travelling the world, I decided to attempt to travel the world, to every country if possible using only couchsurfing. Giving myself a 5 year itinerary, if successful I will write the first 'Couchsurfers Guide To The Galaxy' book. A proceeding of each book sold will be given to couchsurfing to help raise money for the most amazing non profit company I know. I will focus my book not just as a recollection of my travel experiences, but an in depth look into the reasons people offer such kindness, what do we each have in common, what differs from those against and for such a thing, could the essence of such generosity in a day of war and terror be some how recognized and put down on paper so that each reader will want to be involved ultimately making the world a smaller place, accessible to each and everyone of us, rich and poor, experienced and inexperienced travellers, the confident and unconfident, sure to unsure, eager or wannabee, white and black, straight or gay. Many travel books have been written in the past however the world is forever changing as are the people, opinions, feelings and thoughts.

As well as a personal challenge my project is also a gift to my parents in return for them giving me the opportunity to travel. They will see the world through my eyes, there spirit lives on in me, every acquaintance I make, every conversation I have, love I feel, embrace I encounter, I will leave the scent of them behind with hope of living forever through my words, inspirations and memories I share.
